Edit on run mode

I am using Winols to identify my Engine map,
I if buy proper communication device, Can I edit maps when Engine is on?

you need emulator and compatible ecu if you want to edit with engine on

I did not know this was possible. Is this safe, anybody tried and what can you gain from this?
