EDC16 unlock - VAG 1.9 TDI BXE

Postby danieltk » Sat Mar 25, 2017 11:17 am

Hello and good day, members of the forum.

I am Daniel, 12 years car mechanic nad electrician, mainly on PSA cars.
Currently studying mechanical engineering in Hungary, since then ive stumbled upon an old unfinished project, to set up a VW BXE engine in a stationary rig for dyno testing, this project is laying around unfinished since 2007.
It looks that whoever was woring on it previously was absolutely out of his depth, with wrong ECU and wiring. Now ive mended that with the proper electronics attached but - as i dont want to have a whole car around this engine i want to make the ECU - BOSCH EDC16U34 to work as a standalone from the other ecus on the the CANBUS network.
I suppose it should be de-immobolized and unlocked. Are there any experts that can guide me through the neccesary steps?

Many thanks and best wishes.
Daniel.

do you want to run different ecu's on that engine? if so the problem would be the wiring harnass. i may be wrong but i know for a fact that the BDK 2.0 TDI EDC16U1 and U34 uses different pinouts from the ecu. i dont know if it works the same with the 1.9 tdi's. if you look at the immo side of things a simple immo off will do the trick there

edc16 would require opening your ecu, doing full bdm read, splitting read into flash/eeprom files and modifying the eeprom portion before assembling the files back together and writing them back. Should you require help feel free to post your bdm readout here and i'll immo off it for you.

Hello and good day, fellow members,

FIrst, sorry for the epochs it took to reply, but i would like to thank all who replied and gave insights and offered help! million thanks!
The engine was finally started about a month after toriginal post, what i ended doing-
Bought the right full wiring loom from a Golf with a BXE engine, combined with a instruments cluster and fuze box from a Skoda Octavia with a BXE engine.
Modified the wiring loom, deleting all unnecassary wiring acccoding to the GOLF, AUDI and Skoda wiring diagrams from Autodata.
Using an external fuel tank from a Trabant and an electric diesel lift pump operated seperately.
The ECU was sent to a contact i made that BDM read-immo off-unlocked-reprogrammed it for some money.
Then after mechanical wiring and ecu checks, fired right up.. for the first time since 2006 when the university got it from VW/AUDI factory in Gyor..

Best regards and wishes to ya all.
Daniel.
