EDC16 1.9 TDI BKC (Golf Mk5) Good Map?

Postby tehgaza » Sat Jan 23, 2016 4:55 am

Hi there, I currently have a golf mk5 1.9 with a map that produces 141bhp to the wheels. I am wondering if anyone else has a map that produces anymore power like 150bhp to the wheels, that is a good qaulity map?

Also the car is completely stock, nothing has been changed.

Thank you

141bhp at the wheels seems far too high for a standard BKC! You'd be more along the lines of that figure at the flywheel. Have you had the car on a dyno to get this figure or were you just told that's the power output? If you have the dyno readout upload a picture of it and I'll be able to tell if it's a good map by that. If not, upload the ecu map file and I can take a look at it.

No its 141bhp to the wheels completely stock here is the dyno:

I've been using this map for over a year now with no issues. I think you have a point that any more power would be too much for a stock BKC ill just need to wait until I have my Golf GTI in a few months :)

That's impressive! I've tuned BKCs before but haven't had any of them dyno'd, I never knew they could make that much power in stock form! :D Looks like a very good remap, there's no dips or spikes in the torque curve, it's very smooth and keeps a decent amount of torque between 2200-3500rpm before dropping off. If that was my car I'd be very happy with that! :D Out of interest, do you mind me asking who did the tune?

Did the tune and like you said it is pretty smooth. I used to have a more-bhp.com map before and that was worse.

I've heard of them alright! As far as I know it's generic maps they do isn't it, there was only a before and after run done on the dyno? A custom map would be the next step if you want more power and a turbo upgrade. I've seen a lot of the turbos fail on just standard PD105s they're pretty weak and can't handle much boost either. I'm working on tuning a BKC with a xman 1749vc hybrid at the moment. Very impressed with the turbo so far, spool time is excellent and both boost and air flow are very consistent. As far as I remember the BKC injectors can get you to 160-170bhp if you can get enough air into the mix.

Is that 160-170bhp to the wheels or clutch?

It's as much as you can get on stock injectors, injection times will be maxed out. Set of pd130/150 injectors would see you too 200+whp with a gtb turbo.

That's pretty decent. Although I'm pretty sure that would eat up my clutch in no time lol. I think Ill just leave my car the way it is for now, as I will be getting a GTi soon and I can start messing around with that. That is some pretty crazy horsepower for a 1.9 with 8 valves tho haha
