EDC15C7 boot mode.

Postby vince59 » Sat Apr 04, 2020 5:35 pm

I know this a "famous" topic but I am fighting trying to get the ECU in boot mode. I talked about this issue in may thread in rate my tune section, but maybe it is easier to find support here.
Facts:
In the middle of flashing via OBD with MPPS (clone) the VM crashed and since then contact was lost. No way to communicate via OBD.
I decided to go boot mode, but despite having tried all the procedures from the web I did not succeeded to enter boot mode.
I alkso desoldered the eeprom 5P08C3 but no way.
I tried the configuration pin 4,58 to 12+, 1 to gnd, 48 to kline. boot pin 24 to GND, direct, 5kohm and 1 kohm.
Procedure:
- close 24 to GND;
- power on;
- wait 3-to 20 sec;
- release 24 from ground.
No boot mode.
Any suggestion?

Hardware and software used for flashing must support boot mode.

You can desolder the Flash memory and program it in an external programmer.

I believe EDC15c7 and chip 29F400 do support boot mode.
I know I can desolder the chip and this will be next step, however, right now, I do not have the socket adapter SOP48 to read the 29F400 with TL866II plus. It will take quite long time to get the adapter from China.
I am trying to understand if there is a possibility to solder wires but I am not sure about wiring as the chip has 22 pins each side while TL866II has 20 holes only...so the wiring has adapted to fit.

The adapter sop48 has electronics too, it's not just a pin adapter. You can´t program a sop48 without using it.

You need desolder 5p080 too for read on table.

ECU side:
PIN 1 - battery - (ground)
PIN 4 and 58 - battery+ (12v)
PIN 48 - K line

OBD2 side
PIN 16 - battery + (12v)
PIN 4 and 5 - (ground)
PIN7 - Kline

Put pin 24 of flash to ground, connect power and disconnect pin 24, read the ecu.

Hey, fine everything matches with what I did. But no success entering boot mode.
Ok about adapter that confirms my understanding it is not just a wiring.
