Nice 8-)

My understanding is that we need put the CPU itself into the boot mode. I'll try to use info from here http://wiki.obdtuning.com/?title=Debugg ... EDC_15C2_4 to get things rolling. The first picture looks promising :)

Also, infineon minimon tool should probably be used to get us communicating with the CPU in the boot mode - see infineon website & c167 datasheet.

See http://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/ ... 6b50fe07c9

I got my bench ECU earlier this week but have not yet found free time to start hacking, I plan to have some work done in the days to come  .

And another pics I've managed to salvage on the net..

I have not confirmed that it is the right CPU pin to pull to GND in order to get CPU into boot mode, yet! Still need to do my homework..

So be careful - I do not want to be responsible for your ECU/CPU dying on you :?

This document specifies how the c167 enters the boot mode.

Combining the knowledge from all the available sources so far, I can deduct the following:
CPU pin no. 104 named Port0.4 is connected to flash memory pin 24 named DQ4 - this what many images mark as 'boot pin'. Inherently it it is all the same what pin we refer to as 'boot pin'.
By pulling boot pin to ground during CPU reset / startup CPU will enter so called 'boot loader mode'.
If I understand the guys at nefmoto correctly, one can read out the internal ROM in this mode using either minimon or galetto 1260.
For minimon simple serial cable connected to CPU serial port 0 should suffice.
With galetto 1260 one needs to use some additional wiring to hook up ECU pins and Galettos OBD connector.

I'll take a stab at this weekend probably :D

I've opened up my bench EDC15C2 ECU, franken-ecu

Some info:
Code: Select all
Bosch   0281010876   1037364307   DDE   PEUGEOT   406   2.2 HDI   Diesel engine ECU

Everything seems in place HW wise, I still need to dump the SW.
ECU is from the period where three consecutive HW numbers were released for P406 2.2 HDI 0281010876, 0281010877, 0281010878 (busy period :)).
CPU is as expected, Infineon B59388.
I'm not sure about the year, but the sticker on the flash chip that could suggest a release date states 03.01.02, so it is probably 2002.
Also the transmission type is unknown to me - ECU is from the UK.

Maybe some of you might know whether it could be automatic or did they only put out 5 speed manual for 2.2 HDI ?

Here are some pics.

Next, the plan is to rig up the ECU connector to the Galletto 1260. I found some neat cable connectors in the local store, that fit both types of ECU pins found on the connector. Galletto likes them even more.

Still need to get some decent bench power supply .. so hang on ;)

Transmission is manual (5 speed ML5C or ML5T), as every 406 2.2HDi sold in the UK.

Also, stock incision tools needed a a bit of sand grinding to make them more powerful
