ecu issues or not...

Postby crimson » Wed Mar 27, 2013 12:01 pm

Hello, I have an opel vectra B 1996 1.6 16v x16xel, and i have a weird problem with it, in the range 1500-2500 rpm with any gear it runs like it is chocking if i press the pedal a little harder rpm goes higher and runs normal, the problem manifested itself only after the engine reached 80degres and only while you push the throttle slightly if you are driving a little sporty everything is normal, i do not have any check engine light on, no errors nothing, if i remove the temperature sensor it runs normal.
Car runs like it's chocking in that range.
First stage was to replace induction coil, spark-plugs and spark plug wires, changed fuel pump, fuel filter, gasoline, throttle body with sensors, checked if egr is working, everything seems normal and car runs fine until it heats up.
Went for a debugging they said that quad drive is locked on the ecu and i have to replace the ecu, i have replaced it, the ecu is 162142XX, and i think it comes form an Astra F judging from the keys, but looks identical white with red connectors, only last two digits are different, now car runs like it's misfiring but in the same RPM range and it does this even if cold... so it looks like the problem is still there but only manifesting slightly different maybe this ecu has slightly different maps.

any suggestions or how to fix it?

Can you try to put a blind gasket in the EGR?
