ecu interfaces.

I realize this site is mainly for tuning the ecu, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience on how the ecu interfaces with the TCM and the instrument cluster as well. More specifically an Audi TT with a 09g transmission. Apparently there's some immobilizer functionality going on if the two aren't right.
