DPF off - ALFA Romeo Sportwagon 159

Postby patsimo » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:18 am

Hi there!
I am new in all these stuff, so I would really appreciate any help from knowers.
Well, I have an Alfa Romeo Sportwagon model of 2006, 1.9 JTDm with 150ps. The ECU type I get from the FIATEcuScan software (without connecting with car - just by selecting the model in PC) is BOSCH EDC16C39 CF4/EOBD Diesel Injection.
I have some questions:
(1) I wonder if just erasing the DPF with proper software & hardware, and also as I heard, the EGR... Is there anything else you should do, in order for the car to be just fine in the short and long term, i.e. :
a) Avoid failures in other parts of the car, e.g. turbo etc.
b) Avoid getting too much black smoke from behind
c) Be able to pass any test about emissions from a government (Greek) that is not so strict, but follows EU orders sooner or later.
I mean do I have to make any other tunings?
(2) Do you recommend physically removing the DPF from my car afterwards (and replacing with what?), or is anything else easier?
(3) Can I purchase any ready files from exactly my car from anyone who guarantees the above?
Thanks in advance (sorry for writing so much)!

(2) after erase from ecu you have to cut off filter from exaust, becouse he will fill with a soot and stop exhaust gases
someone must to cut off dfp, get interior out, and get back housing on his place.

Greetings all!

I also have an Alfa Romeo 159. Mine is 2.4 Jtdm 2006 230hp,460nm (remapped).
I'v been looking into this DPF removal and asking prices to get it done. It is too expensive where I live so I guess I have to learn to do it by my self.
Problem I'm having is that I don't have a place to start looking for something to change in the program. I have all the necessary cables and software to edit and upload the file to the engine.

The thing I don't have is the what and where to change :wtf:

If anybody could give me some pointers is to how this is done I would really appreciate it.
Just to clarify! I'm doing this only to my own car. No business involved!! I'v read that somebody was asking advice here to make profit with out any kwonledge, not cool.
In exchange I'm willing to share freely my program with this forum to get other Alfa owners the possibility to get +30hp, +40nm and of course DPF removal when it is done

I can upload the ecu file if this will help!!

Hope someone can help. Thanks.

(moderators: fast registration, thanks for that)

Also, patsimo! If you live in a cold climate (edit: yep, greece, not so cold :D ) I would not recommend to remove the EGR. it will take away all the heating possibility that your car has. But in warmer climate I think it is ok. My car has modification made to the EGR. Simple plate with 4 holes (size of pencil ~8mm) fitted on front of EGR intake. This decreases the amount it can circulate exhaust fumes. But I can see that the car is not very hot in -25 celcius... Just a thought :)

Don't forget by properly removing dpf, you gain better MPG, since it wont do the regeneration function. If its removed poorly you get white smoke :D
As said above you need to physically remove dpf from the exhaust.

IMHO while EGR is not faulty leave it working.

Dont forget about VNT maps, and lambda maps... you need to adjust those for proper DPF off.

And dont use ECUSafe. That is a shitty DPF off, Make a manual DPF off.

Tribesman: is there anyway you could give me some pointers for dpf removal.
I mean in the ecu file. At least what to look for. It's all a bit overwhelming to start finding what you don't know.
Thanks
