Chip/reader/ecu problems? clueless

Postby sprengstoff » Fri Oct 09, 2015 11:25 am

Hi all,

I have an mg zr td 2.0 mk2. I've been trying to get it remapped for months by now but facing a lot of problems.

At first I received a bad map, that was meant for another ECU. It was for the mk2 ECU. I received the chips twice and didn't work. Lots of problems etc etc. By then I bought myself a reader/writer to try and write the files myself instead of sending chips per post and waiting for ages. Then I received the right mapping files. Now here's the problem:

I have bought myself a reader/writer: Minipro TL866 CS software version 6.17

I have here two other chips as well: AM29f010-90JC 340JXZX 1991 AMD and 9506EBB 1991 AMD
Then I have two cheap chips from ebay: AM29f010B-90JI 1408DVM G 1998 AMD

I have two sockets soldered in the ECU.

I have programmed both chips already with the new map files, but they don't work. No eml light is detected.
The stock chips, they work instantly when I plug them in. So that should mean that the sockets are soldered in ok.

I have also extracted the content from my stock files, and tried to write them onto two new chips. That doesn't work either. I have tried to write them onto all 4 chips, to no avail.

Whenever I extract the content of the chips, and compare it to the digital files they are all the same, no errors or anything. But in the ECU they don't work.

Now I have no idea anymore what might be wrong. Anyone has an idea or experience with this?

Ok got two new chips. They are tuned on my original files with another reader/writer. They work on other mk2 ECU. On mine, no.

It still doesn't work.

Could the problem be within the ECU itself? Or something else hardware related? Something that is not allowing other chips?

LOGICAL EXPLANATION:

NEW CHIPS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE

YOU ARE NOT PROGRAMMING PROPERLY

I dont Know any other reason...when you load ORI dump all chips should be exactly the same!!! Exactly!!

Ecu is rejecting to work with every Chip you prepare....

Something is wrong and I think is not a Ecu problem, simply Ecu needs CORRECT CHIPS.

I would think the same.. Seems obvious though.

But yesterday I have been reading my stock chips several times, and written them several times as well onto 6 different chips.

I have am29f010-90jc and am29f010b chips from different suppliers. I never got them to work, while the content on the new chips are exactly the same as the content on my stock chips. Stock chips work, new chips don't. No idea anymore..
