CHECKSUM ERROR!!!

Postby Munsterdiesel » Fri Aug 05, 2016 10:45 pm

Hi. I have been trying to tune a Case Puma 170(2012) but its been unsuccessful so far. The ECU is Bosch EDC7UC31. I have no problem reading or writing the files but they keep giving me check sum error 3158 and going into limp mode. My file editor has checked and rechecked the files but they keep giving check sum error after about 5 minutes of driving. I am using a genuine Alientech KessV2 too and its all uo to date. I load the original file back on and its all OK again 5 minutes later.. Has anyone come across this before or does anyone know how to rectify it???

Thanka in advance,
Billy.

PS I have tried uploading the files but the site is not allowing them.

Is your tuner calculating the checksum or is the Kess doing it? I have had a similar issue with the 1.2TSi VAG engines that use continental management. Kess calculates the checksum incorrectly. The file writes with no problem sucessfully but when you try to start the car it will not fire. When the checksum is calculated by WinOLS the car accepts the tune with no problems.

Maybe try getting the checksum calcuated in the editing software instead of relying on the Kess one to do it. Might solve your issue!

Thanks for your reply Mark. I've been getting the checksum calculated by winols and its been done manually by my tuner too. I'm wondering if there is some hidden detection SW in there that see the remap and initiates limp mode. I've the AdBlue removed from the ecu with no issues but it seems to detect the modified power map every time. I'm at my wits end with this now.

Hi,

Have you got the original map download file for the vehicle ?

If your're using the Kess it has it's own checksum built in.
