BMW E46 330D M57 HARDCUT EDC16C1

Postby NoName27 » Thu May 21, 2026 8:41 pm

Hello all. Looking for advice on how other people have achieved a machine gun sounding popcorn limiter on an M57 BMW engine. I have tried dropping the torque request to 0 at hardcut RPM which did work, but sounded very soft and tame.

I also tried reducing the overspeed threshold down to 4.5k to achieve hardcut but this didn't work too well.

What ways do people achieve a nice fast cutting aggressive hardcut on this ecu. Thanks :)

What RPM gap did you used on TQ limiter?
If doing this with TQ limiter you can try to use 3,2 or 1 RPM gap or you can try to do this with SVRL.
Also if you know what you doing you can try retarding SOI a bit at these RPMS you want your limiter.
