BMW 525d Remap

Postby mapkrk » Thu Jul 07, 2016 12:22 am

Hiya,

Maybe someone can help me. So I remapped ECU with FGTECH but first attempt was unsuccessful. The second did go ok. I was having problem with starting the engine so I reseted EWS. I tried to sync with INPA and it looked like it went with no problems but still won't fire it up. I'm getting those errors 4A62 EWS tampering and 4A63 EWS Manipulation.
Any idea how to solve the problem ? regards,

HI,

I took this information from another source but all the same it should help.

Folks, this was an odd one. Probably my fault, but it seems to happen to enough people for various reasons that it's worth a thread someone can find in the future. Also, people get sold a new CAS when all they need is a simple software reset.

Symptom is that everything works, engine cranks fine -- but no start (and no SES light). Fire up INPA and you'll see various codes, but the one that's the problem is '4A63 EWS Manipulation'. Means that two modules aren't synched, so the car believes there is a security problem and immobilizes the car.

The fix is easy (with INPA). E60>>Engine>>N52 [in my case]>>Shft F6 EWS -- Start value comparison and Shft F7 EWS CAS -- Start value comparison. In my case, EWS CAS resynched the modules and the car started right up.

NOTE: My INPA had "valve" instead of "value". Since screwing with the valves in INPA is not something you leap into, it took awhile to figure the bad translation. Must have looked that this five times wondering what valves has to do with the EWS....

NOTE: Different engines have this selection in different submenus, I'm told. I didn't confirm this.

and NOTE: This can be caused by multiple issues with keys, but also by newbies getting too random while learning INPA. Probably what happened to me. I learned a lot while I diagnosed it, testing fuel pump ops and so on. Also, tried several Web suggestions (insert key in door twist left and right; or use valet key), and neither fixed anything.

So, if you get a "crank, no start", check for this fast fix via INPA. Good luck.

Did you modify the same file or flashed other car file?

Its been sorted out now. I disconnected battery for over the night. This morning I tried synchronise EWS again and it went ok. I was able to fire engine up. I flashed ECU with same modified file. Anyway do I have to put ignition on while flashing the ECU ? I know FGTECH asks you to put ignition on and off in last stage of process.
