Beginner help: Downloading orginal ECU file

Postby hassad » Sun Jan 25, 2015 6:48 pm

Hi

I am new here and I was wondering if anyone could help me with downloading the original file from my car's ECU. What tools and software do I need?

My car: Opel astra G 1.7 DTI 75 HP/ 55 KW.

Thanks in advance.

HI dear,
There are lot of tools, reading here and in other forums you will find different brands/models/versions etc.

I have an original MPPS, and I paid for it around 1000 euros a few years ago, I can make a lot of cars and it has automatic checksum correction for many of those cars (but not all).

Depending on your goal is what you need, if you are planning to tune your car yourself, I will recommend you to get a tool that has the checksum correction incorporated, that will make your life easier and cheaper. Otherwise, if the file is being tuned by someone else you can just focus on getting the cheapest tool that supports your car/ecu and that's all.

So summarizing, now you can start reading here and in other forums what tools are available and based on that you can research each vendor for the supported cars, prices, and features.

Thanks for the replay. I have purchased MPPS v13 and I will read the file when I receive the tool. I can pay if some one can remap the file for me. Is there anyone who can help me?
Thanks
