Approaching a remapping job

Hello everybody
I have now been studying remapping for quite a long time and is now pretty familiar with using winols to edit and find maps also i have knowledge of calculating afr, mechanical limits etc.

I am an owner of a volkswagen touran 2.0 bkd DSG.
i have been working with the file for a time, and specified the maps etc. and maked hot start mod and egr off wich works great :thumbup:
i have decided after studying different tune maps for bkd engines to finally try start out making my own remap for this type of engine.

I have been roaming around in this forum but, maybe it is me who's blind, but i can not find anything else than guides of finding and editing maps of the various ecu¨s here not information of how to approach the order of files.

And now to my question. How would you approach the job of remapping a file for a pd engine, in wich order would you edit the maps to make sure that they corporate in the right way?

just look at the iq limiters ;)

Yes i have found all the relevant Maps for the job. And made a Map pack in winols
And i know how the Maps Are Working.

My question is
In wich order do you People edit the maps?

Is it eassiest to start out with the torque limiter or the drivers Wish? And so on?

In ny oppinion i Would start out by editing the torque limiter and the move om to the drivers Wish and so on.
Am i right or Wrong?

Hi man here is how i do it.

when i get a car i look at the mechanical limits first, from there i decide what kind of tune i am going to make. when you decided on all that you choose what boost you are going to use. from there i work out what iq is needed for that amount of boost. i start with boost maps and then go onto the fuel maps.

Good info above - know your mechanical limits.
1. Choose the boost level you know the turbo is capable of (which is the limiting factor in many tunes).
2. Calculate baseline fuelling to match.
3. Calibrate limiters to allow fuel and boost to be delivered.

That is what I would call a basemap - a best first estimate for whatever the current hardware setup is you are tuning for. Depending on experience level its best to err on the side of caution with basemaps. Then the good bit starts - the actual tuning of the calibration.

If you have the equipment, monitor AFR, EGT, and as many ECU parameters as you can (boost, actuator positions, fuel, limiters etc). Tune to whatever your limiting factors are, whether that be ability to control boost, AFR, temperatures (EGT, coolant), ability to deliver fuel. Knowing where the limit is comes with experience and knowledge.

Generally diesel engines are fairly resilient to tuning, as they are far more likely to run badly than instantly destroy themselves. Gasoline engines must be monitored closely for AFR and knock as even on stock hardware engines can be damaged very quickly.

Alot to take in for a newbie, but there are lots of resources online!

my question is how do i calculate the needed IQ for the boost i want to run ?

my engine is 1,9tdi AVB.

i know my turbo is stock on 1950mbar but can handle safe with 2250mbar. but the question is how do i know what IQ is needed for this boost ? for now i am running 2200mbar with 59,5mg (max) diesel.

can somebody help

How is youre performance on that tune? remember everything works with calculations and in relation to each other, you cant just guess numbers and hope it will be fine, you wil be on your way to breaking your engine. You can send me you file and i can have a look if you want. if possible, send the normal map and tuned map. i could try and help you out, wont ask you money.
