alfa 159 2009-10 ecu remap + egr delete

Postby kentm99 » Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:21 am

Hi ,
I am looking for a remap and EGR delete for alfa 159 2010.
It has EGR blank plate,
swirl flap removal
DPF present and will remain present
Stage 1 Remap I assume for no DPF removal.
EGR plate causes error code so this needs disabling.

See attached binary read ( note it was read twice and binary files match)

engine 939a3000
version 939axd12 25B
ECU info :

Ecu Selection = Alfa Romeo 159 2.4 JTD 20V Bosch EDC16C9
Power status mains power

Fiat Hardware Number 51865265
Bosch Hardware Number 0281015229
Bosch Hardware Id 00
Bosch Software Number 1037504039
Bosch Software Id 3842
Fiat Identification Number 93952
Fiat Iso Code FD86BF049B
Fiat Tester Number ATEX020982
Programming Date 05/03/2010
Odometer Value 150867
Reprogram Count 1
Odometer Value Last Reprogram 16

Thanks

Hi,
Alternatively I could try it myself but I don't want to brick it.
I did find some maps online but the ECU hw version did not ,match so I assume some editing would be required.
I found where I think the EGR delete byte is (i think?), but I am not sure of the whole process.
i.e. edit egr byte, copy maps across from another map stage 1, do you need to adjust some bytes to get the checksum to match?
What else is required? I could do this without winOLS if it is just copy paste some fields, but since I am using MPPS to upload I don't want to make a mistake and have to get more gear to do debug programming. I have used HEXPlorer to edit binary files, but there are probably better tools than this as it is pretty basic.
Thanks

clear fault codes with diagnostic tool and flash the egr off file ..... remove the egr plug cable..........good luck

Hi,
Thanks very much. I see a bunch of areas set to 0 and 1 table modified.
Is this just EGR off only?
The fault codes appear as soon as I plug it in on the bench and I assume will come back as soon as I remove the diag tool to plug in the MPPS adapter, since there are no connections appart from K line, then all sorts of faults will occur.
I can clear previous flow error from EGR blank , but what about all the others that will occur?

Thanks

EDC16C39 is dangerous to write with MPPS, can destroy ECU.BDM read and write is safe.No other OBD are 100% safe.Anyway, do not use MPPS to write this ECU,will regret.

Hi,
So after much deliberation I decided to pay someone to get a tuned file.
However I am not having much like writing it.
Using MPPS, I had the ECU out on the bench and tried writing the file supplied.
But it immediately failed and said condition not correct.
I tried to read the log file, but not text.
It continues to do this and I asked the supplier but he said it might need to be done in the car.
Is this correct?
So anyway put it back in the car and tried to connect with MPPS , but it would not connect.
I tried Multiecuscan, and it connected no problem. I'm not sure what bus each uses?
But now I'm back where I started and can't write the file.
Has anyone had any experience writing with MPPS on the bench , or in the car for an alpha 159?
I'm really stuck now, and don't have any options left to try, thanks.

DO I need to use MES to clear the fault codes or is it enough to let MPPS clear the fault codes?
I ask because I am trying to do it out of the car as MPPS is not communicating when in the car.
and it will have a stack of error codes when on , out of the car.
Thanks

On EDC16 ecu's, if you brick them then you need to use BDM socket to re-flash it, try with K-Tag
