09 Elantra Immo Key Problem

Postby NickT248 » Wed Nov 20, 2019 5:33 pm

Hey all,
I have a pretty unique situation with my 2009 Elantra Touring car.
I had lost the car key, I do have a spare. The spare however, won't start the car. It cranks and cranks but won't turn over.
I found this to be an issue with the programming.
I live in Michigan and apparently my car was manufactured in Canada.
To get the pin, I went over to Canada to a Hyundai dealership.
I came back and went to a knowledgeable locksmith here in Michigan, the problem is when they went and programmed the key, the pin numbers that were provided were for cars prior to 2007. We called the Hyundai dealership in Canada and they said that they were current.
Dealerships here in Michigan won't touch the car because it's Canadian and they tell us that the programs that they use won't work with a Canadian car.
I'm hopeless in this situation and I was wondering if anyone else might have had a similar situation or can shed some light on this situation and open up some options for where to go from here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you kindly.

What's your VIN number? have a limited database for 2007~2019, you might get lucky

You can make use of knowledge shared by a locksmith to deal with car key problems.
