038906018BT MSA15 or EDC15

Postby nefsr3 » Wed Dec 16, 2015 10:46 pm

Which type is my 038906018BT ? MSA 15 or already EDC15, if EDC15 which type exactly ?
I do have PLCC32 H-L Eproms on the PCB, so I assume it's a MSA 15 right? I read the EDC15 are OBD readable, or what's the difference?

Thanks folks

I found that when it's not flashable/readable over OBD it's an MSA15. Also it should be an MSA15 due to the High and Low-Eeprom.
BUT is there any indication without opening it to see if it has Immo 1 or Immo 2 ? While reading it via VCDS I do have in the "extra"-Field the "IMMO: xxxxx" Number without VIN, so it should NOT be an IMMO3.

Year of Car and ECU is 1999, Seat Leon 1M, AHF

018 XX - MSA15 (non flashable)
012 XX/019 XX - EDC15X - OBD flashable.

Seems not to be as easy as that.

Have a 038906018FB ECU here (from Seat Cordoba Vario ASV, Year 2000) which has "Diesel EDC15V" written on the Bosch sticker.
Additionally, there exist other ECUs with same number 038906018FB without "EDC15V" written on the sticker.

My best guess approach would be (as I also have no clue how to check the difference between both ECU types):
Just have a look onto the sticker.
If there's nothing like "EDC*" written on it and it's a Diesel ECU, it's propably a MSA15...

No. You can install EDC15 ECU instead of MSA15 , just need to make adapter.

OK, is this ECU (see picture) then EDC15( as written on the Bosch sticker - "EDC15V" ) or - as you say - MSA15?

Would be great if someone can confirm which ECU type this is (or if it is flashable, which would be more interesting for me)?

I would then only change ECU without "EDC15V" written on it - which is installed right now

to the one seen on the picture, if this would flashable.

My 038906018FB without "EDC15V" written on it has two PLCC chips and is not flashable.
Both ECUs have the same case and obviously the same pinout (same connector type)

Same could then be possible for the 038906038BT from the thread creator.
