Recover an Edc15c2 - Boot mode or take off 29f400Bt

Postby fcardoso » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:05 pm

Hi,

I have tryed to enter in boot mode on a bosch edc15c2 (1plug) but without success. I saw in many foruns this technic for a 29f400BB chip but never for a 29f400BT.

If it's not possible to enter in boot mode with the edc15c2 what tool can I use to read and write the file back.

All this process was made intentionally, cause I have here in stock 3 edc15c2 (1 plug) and I want to be preprared to an eventual ECU brick.

B.Regards.

It is hard to brick EDC15C2 :) if you do it, bench flash in boot mode can be done, if that wont work, you have to desolder the chip.

Hi have bricked intentionally :).

While was uploading a file I turn off the power station. Now I want to learn how to recover it :)

"bench flash in boot mode can be done, if that wont work, you have to desolder the chip."
When you say boot mode you are talking about pin 24 short to mass and galleto 1260 uploading the file. I have tryed it and no luck.
Is there any other method to recover it with galleto 1260?
Galletto 1260 has an option to boot mode but not for this chip....

To write back with a programer, what low cost tool can do it?

I have pictures of my try " boot mode short pin to mass" . What I want to do is a DIY :How to recover an EDC15c2

AFAIK EDC15 does not have a BDM interface - could be wrong though...

So boot mode will be your only option other than desoldering, like ECUedit wrote.

Yep, No BDM for Edc15c.....

Can anyone discribe the process to enter in boot mode with a galleto 1260?
I want to make a DIY with pics to upload here in the forum.

I have recovered a plug of an edc15c2 from junk yard and with an obd2 plug I have make a package to flash and recover this ecu without a car.
I have bought an ups, power station, multimeter and others electronic equipment. Now I need to choose a programer for 95080 and 29F400..

Can anyone describe the necessary steps?

Cheapest programmer (that work) that i've come around is the GQ-4X and you'll need an adapter for your chip psop44-dip (adp-019) if I remember right the programme+the adapter cost me 150$

Possible you wrong do boot mode. Right is:
Connect pin 24 29f400 to GND.
Power ON ECU.
After 3-5 sec disconnect pin 24 from GND.
Connect Galleto socket.
Start Galleto program.
Select AUDI.
In Driver go to bottom and find AUDI WV ME7.x.x 29f400BB PIN 24 FLASH A MASSA
Press ECU DATA button and check answer.
If you see "Boot mode inactive" you have Galleto USB driver trouble. Often this is conflict Galleto USB driver and drivers from other program for virtual USB COM port. Tray to uninstall all other USB COM drivers.
If you see EEPROM ident all OK.
First read flash few time and binary compare files for check connection stability. If OK - you can write.
