Help understand files

Postby nikolaroma » Thu Aug 15, 2019 7:09 pm

Hello,
I need some help to understand the files(bmw edc 16 ) ,i made bdm read with ktag, now i have 3 different files
.FLS is flash file (1mb) ,i saw some people have 2mb read ,is there any difference? In this file are located tuning maps ?
.EPR is eeprom file ,there are located vin number ,numbers specific to car chasis etc...?
and third one is blank extension file ,not sure when this one is used?
Can i use .FLS file from another bmw 320d same kw and flash it to this ecu, will the car work?
When i write is it enough to write only FLS or i should write all 3 files?
Thanks in advance

you have a lot of confusion in mind, post the files you read let's see if they are read correctly

flash contain ISN Code too... also other needen infos.
There are for e.g. EDC16C31 with 1mb and EDC16CP35 with 2MB... also depend on tool you read, some tools only read partial...
Your tune is in flash file. You CANT use other car files in your ecu ...

Thanks for your answers, first time i read some other 320d ecu that i was thinking is identical to mine but its not(it has 1 mb flash file ,my car has 2mb),this time i read ecu from my car.Files are attached
please note this car has alpina d3 map(flashed with bmw software) inside but my engine is also upgraded to match alpina specs,i have 535d injectors now, bigger turbo,intercooler...
It would be very nice if someone can share damos for this ecu with me so i can learn to turn off dpf and egr myself
thanks in advance :)
You do not have permissions to view the files yet. You have to be registered and you have to make at least 3 quality / unique posts.
