BMW 330D E90 Rail pressure sensor linearization

Postby jbirschner » Fri Jun 24, 2016 12:21 pm

Hi All,

Could somebody please help me or advise about how BMW ecu works to read rail pressure from rail pressure sensor?

My BMW 330D E90 have a BOSCH 0281002497 sensor rated at 1800 bar but accordingly to other specs that I found on internet from other bosch 1800 bar sensor that it can read up to 2100 bar.

My car is set up at 1970 bar rail and it is working fine except logs only show max 1835 bar.
My Stock Sensor map was:
0v = 0bar
0.5v = 0bar
4.5v = 1800bar
5v = 1800bar
now I changed it to:
0v=0bar
0.5v=0bar
4.5v = 2000bar
5v = 2000bar

So now I can see now full pressure up to 1970 bar defined on my map. Is my above map for 2000bar correct?

I also tried to install a 2200 bar sensor BOSCH 0281006064 and changed the map to:
0v=0bar
0.5v=0bar
4.5v=2200bar
5v=2200bar

But my idle was terrible and engine was shaking, rpm was going up and down and I read 0.90v signal going to ecu and old sensor shows 0.97v so I tried many times and gave up. New sensor is RDS 4 and old is RDS 2?? I don't know if it affects anything.

So could you please confirm if my 2000 sensor map is correct set and also why my new 2200 bar sensor didn't' work and why? Is it because that different sensor type RDS 4 and RDS 2?

Thank you so much if you could help me.

Regards,
Jackson.

you can try 0 300 3000 3300 0 0 2000 2010 as its in edc17 lin, also i think the 2010 can be 2200 without problem ...

Contrary to popular belief, the voltage range of all Bosch high pressure sensors are not the same. I know at least one of those but probably both have different voltage ranges.

You use stock sensor for 2000bar?

1800Bar e90 stock sensor will read to about 1840Bar, then it simply stops outputting more voltage.
