Which Diagnostic tools to use

Postby CrazyBartender » Fri Jul 04, 2014 12:14 pm

To cover most cars on the road, which diagnostic tools would you need?

I currently have:

INPA, VCDS, ISID.

Thinking about adding scanXL.

Which bmw tool can log like vcds does?

VCDS function and ergonomic is rare among orginal or aftermarket tools.
If you're looking for something universal, autocom/delphi is quite ok and you will find it useful for majority of cars. For some functions it could be even more handy than dealer tools.

I've got good experiences with my Bosch KTS 570. But you definitely need the additional multiplexer.
Good but expensive stuff...
Recently I've worked with a Würth WOW! Supports a bunch of cars and is doing a proper job.

Regards!

Let's say you need at least 2 universal tools: bosch KTS, autocom, launch, autoboss.
And extra dealer affordable tools VCDS, Op-Com, Renault clip, Mercedes star, lexia.

Original bosch KTS is quite expensive.
Autocom is a good alternative, because i notice that a lot of function that KTS are not useful..
With KTS you can read a lot of fault code, and enter in a lot of control unit, but you can enter in the main control unit with a cheaper diagnostic..

You can set up an Icom emulator made from a flash drive, if logging data on BMWs is your main objective.
