Tools used for ECU reading and writing

Hello.
I have a VW Passat cc 2.0tdi cr, and i need to tune it,
I have galleto 4 v54 and i need to know how to read it, can i read it via obd orr i need to remowe ecu and use tricore boot and read only int. Flash or read whole ecu??

You will maybe have succes read it via obd but you it can be that you cant wirite it back via obd and if an error comes you will have a problem then. Boot mode is 100 times more secure for edc17, and when you read it out read out everything to have an backup for just in case

For tuning you need ext, flash, if there is no then int. flash

Only bootmode. When something goes wrong via OBD, you will be with cleaned EEPROM and car that does not start.
Without a backup: big problem. Full reading and 100% safety gives only bootmode.
I'm not doing any EDC17 via OBD. Everything on the table.
