Tips for finding MAPS

Postby KikoMKD » Wed Nov 23, 2016 11:06 am

Ok,
after searching and searching all around the forum...Is someone willing to explain a few things about finding MAPS and answering to some obvious questions :D
1.Is there difference in same MAP but from different cars, that is affecting a beginner in finding them?
2.Anybody that can give us a general idea about each MAP eg. Boost limiter,EGR,Drivers wish map: whats the general size 8x12 12x16 etc. , some pictures in 2d that will help us at least to know what to look for?
3.Softwares and other equipment? (btw i am starting on winols and learning its functions is ok but managing the maps is why i started this topic :D )

Come on guys share your knowledge so that we can share ours later ;)

Thanks a lot

p.s. if already there is a topic for this i apologies and please guide me to it :D

Houdini is right.
At first look for example to edc15 tuning guide - there are information about basic maps which is needed for tuning, so you can find similar ori file and try to find maps by that guide. Here in this forum you can find a lot ori and tuned files - try to find maps, compare them - it will be very usefull experience for you.

If im not wrong - somewhere on this forum is tuning guide for 1.8t engines - try to search for it, maybe there you can find what you need.

Thanks for the reply and yes i am aware that this forum has a lot of useful data and guides...Correct me if I am wrong but most of the materials are from VAG and if i want to practice on lets say 1.8t or 1.9tdi or similar its easy to find help on the net.I learned a lot of basics from those materials, but at the moment i am trying to start doing the ''remap'' on my Corsa B 1999 1.2 16v Bosch ME1.5.x with OBDII port for the first time in my life and finding something to support me in the process is lot harder than if a start on my A3 1.8T.
Long story short, I want to test my beginner skills on my Corsa B and i dont feel ready to start because while working on a original map from the probably same Corsa its very different for finding the maps in WinOLS,than like i said working on the 1.8t

I'll attach the file that i use for practice if anyone can check it if its ok...cause i have lot of troubles in finding the maps.
ex. I cant find the Drivers Wish Map which i can spot it from a mile on VAG cars and on this one i am lost :wtf:

Cheers

Take a Zafira 2.0 and compare.
This one (attached) for example has first part of file identically with yours.
KFZW is offset by -1E2
KFMIRL is offset by -1A4
KFMIOP can be offset bu -9A
