206 HDI ~100BHP MPG MAP

Postby rlees85 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 2:19 am

Experts,

You will take one look at this and wonder what I have been smoking.

Let me try to explain...

Purpose
Very basic remap, give tiny bit more power, but a noticeably better response. Should noticeably improve MPG and low-down response. More power to be added later...

SOI/Timing & Rail Pressures
Please have a quick look over here first...
http://www.ecuedit.com/different-car-same-engine-totally-different-soi-t3042
Basically I have access to a 306 (2.0 HDI, 2000) ECU DUMP and I own a 206 (2.0 HDI, 2003) and am trying to map it. I am using both ECU dumps when considering my changes.

I'll try to keep my reasoning simple, as this could be a very long post otherwise:
  • 206 SOI Seems advanced as standard, I did not feel safe to just +1 or +2 degrees higher up.
  • 306 SOI is much more advanced lower down, I guess because emissions isn't so strict. I do not care emissions so I have set 306 low-down SOI values on my 206 MAP to try and improve response.
  • SOI is capped at whatever is highest 306 or 206 low down.
  • SOI is capped at whatever is highest 306 +1 degree or 206 mid range.
  • SOI is capped at whatever is highest 306 +2 degrees or 206 at IQ 55.
  • Pilot Injection & Rail Pressure just upped a bit.

Note:
This car has not been flashed to car. Need to check my reasoning first and that I won't kill it with my SOI.
This map also attempts to bring the low-speed fan 1 degree earlier (for a laugh)
It also disables the EGR valve

Thanks for looking. Allow the flaming to commence

ps. no, I did not paste values in from Excel :) I typed them all manually!
pps. run this on your car and it dies not my fault!

Any ideas? I know this isn't a power map but it will be once I got this stage sorted ;) I finally got a new battery for the car today so feel confident to flash the ECU now...

SOI really concerns me, as it affects cylinder pressures ...

If no-one has any idea too, I will probably proceed to map the car keeping SOI the same, which would be a shame as I know it can help this engine a lot with MPG ;)

Editing SOI might not be as critical task as it seems - until you edit SOI maps only. You still have SOI limiter that restricts you to use too advanced SOI. That limiter becomes active when you advance SOI too much, in a way that it retards injection to pre-defined value (that is still quite advanced). It still doesn't mean that you can advance SOI way too much and expect it to run properly. :D

You gave me an idea to compare SOI maps of mondeo 2.2 TDCi and 2.0 TDCi - I might find out something useful.
