Hi, all. I've just joined this forum and have been searching for advice on isolating the egr valve on my Peugeot 406 2.0 Hdi Diesel 1999. I had the cylinder head off as the gasket had blown, all fixed ok now. But I was astonished at the amount of crap there was in the inlet manifold system. I'm sure that was caused by a mixture of oil from worn turbo charge bearings (I've fitted a new TC now) and the carbon etc crap recycling from the EGR valve. So I stripped degreased and cleaned all the inlet manifold system and blanked off the egr valve. The vehicle has been running perfectly since then but I have been wondering of something should have been done to the ecu to take the egr control out of the loop? Can I do this with software and equipment such as PP2000, ecm titanium, or winols. I would be grateful for some advice about this. Now, more recently the engine persists in dropping, frequently, into the 'limp' mode (engine condition symbol on) with result that the engine will not rev above 2800 rpm. Could be something to do with the blanked egr valve?
I'm going to put another question on the forum about that problem and how to install a modified ECU file. I understand that this model of 406 has an ECU access socket that is NOT OBD2 compliant although it is the same shape connector. Thankyou.

Hi, first you need to use diag tool ( pp2000)to read fault Codes, to see why its going to limp mode !Then u will know what is causing problem. Post DCT fault codes ! Regards P.
