This is a good idea. I would suggest to anyone starting out to know how the engine works and what information the ecu requires first.

Remap ECUs is one of the way to making money and same way to fast crash engine :). I think it is not a simple thing and so far away from it. For example, updates for BMW ECU are sending almost every week and every time it is correction of ECU map. Why BMW plant engineers can not to count on the first time what a map will be a best? Before update will be issued, I think, they test every idea/solution for remap ECU and it is not cheep. Of course they are work hard that updates do not crash the engine after remap. I don't think so that I can compete with them.

My interest is in the possibility of transferring the code from the damaged control units in a similar control units from the donor car. For example, today I tried to use ODIS-E and ODIS-S for adapt used ABS/ESP module Teves mark 60. And it stop at the moment when it have to finish test of the system. Odis do not gived any information that this module have to be coded, but I know that this ABS/ESP module is from donor car and I think it have to be coded. Best way is to send this car to dealer and ask them that they will recode it. . It could be that this used module is dead, but dealer anyway will takes money .... Pointless idea....

Maybe sombody can say me what I have to use for transfering codes from one module to other module?

There are some good links in this Thread already. But yes, I was amazed at the lack of global posts/sticky posts in this forum :). Hopefully as a bit of a technical writer, once I get things in my head - I can help out and summarize stuff for others to use.

Yeah vagecumap [url]https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXpuH1y6t8Y6q9kP6ope8VA/videos[/url is really intresting to watch for the vag edc15,16 and 17, but if i look on the edc from a bmw i can't find any of the maps. Maybe i am not searching good enough but some basic informations on the different ecu's would be fine, where you can see all the stuff you need to read to get started. I'm tryin to help myself and share my experience
