Mpps v.13.02 vw edc15 writing issue, help needed!

Postby pajatsoman » Fri Jan 12, 2018 9:34 pm

Hi

It seems i can`t get my project car`s ECU flashed no matter what and i have no idea what to do next. Any advice or shared knowledge would be much appreciated!

So for the background: Car is vw golf which originally had AGR engine, i fitted ALH engine with vnt-turbo so i`m trying to flash original ECU (038 906 012K) with ALH:s file using mpps v13.02 (clone) and windows 7 32-bit laptop.

So the new engine is fitted and electrics etc sorted, it fires up and idles properly so i think everything including ecu is in working condition. Now i just have to get ALH or similar file uploaded to the ecu for proper overall functioning.

Mpps finds ECU id properly, it reads ECU properly or so i presume, it starts to write ECU but almost every time (sometimes earlier) when the process is at 70% same "mpps error, an error has occurred" error message shows up and stops the flash. After the flash has gone bad, car still starts normally, i can read the ECU etc like nothing had happened.

These are the things i have tried this far without success: have tried to write at default and slow speed, took #11 fuse off, car`s battery is allways above 12v, tried mpps software with windows 8 and 7 with and without compatilibity modes (win xp etc), have re-installed mpps and according usb driver many times (even formated laptop so there aren`t any overlap with software/drivers) i took fuse #15 off but then mpps can`t find ECU at all.

I read/saved the file i`m now trying to flash to my car`s ECU from my relative`s ALH powered golf with the same mpps tool.

Car has been standing still for quite a while and it`s really a project so there are few warning light`s flashing at dash, there isn`t any radio in place atm.. Can these type of things effect ECU flahing?

i`m afraid i can`t really afford to buy expensive hardware to fix this problem.

Mpps v.13.02 is sufficient for edc15. Remove the ECU and record in boot mode. In the MPPS program in the auto list look for "GENERIC". And look for information on connecting and correctly executing boot mode. And the firmware files to check, look worth it?
Bosch number ecu?

Hi, thanks for the reply!
These are the numbers found from ecu`s cover
BOSCH: 0 281 010 111,
28SA4241
BOO 08318 1154 0100

Numbers from Mpps
Vw hardware number: 038906012K
Vw system type: 1,9l R4 EDC15V15V
Vw software Number: SG 2811
Vw software Version: 000003000003
Vin Number: 038906012K 1,9l R4 E

Yes i think i have to find out how to execute flash in boot mode, wouldn`t really want to downgrade back to old actuator turbo. Is it okay to use cars battery as power source when doing flash in table?

I assume you mean what file i tried to flash to the ecu? If so it`s ALH:s original 512kt file from:
Vw hardware Number: 38906012M
Vw System Number: 1,9l R4 EDC 15V
Vw Software Number: SG 2813

If u need ecu`s number i can check it out and if needed i can send the file via email or so..

Is there any change that software that i tried to upload is just unsuitable for this particular ecu?

So the outlined pin in the picture is the specific pin to solder 5k resistor to get the ecu in boot mode?
