Map cost me 2 clutches? Or not? :)

Postby MasterM » Fri Mar 24, 2017 9:50 am

Hy guys,

i try to understand the tuning, the maps. Not for money, just for me. I'm new in this. I'm using ECM Titanium just to compare for now the maps. I didn't do any modification. And that because i think that the map that i bought from a tuner cost me 2 clutches. Not sure. I let you decide this. And help me to understand.
car is: Alfa 159 1.9 150hp 320nm
So:
I have named the map 450NM. This map was on my car 2 years. Cost me 2 clutches and the car vibrates during hard acceleration to! Only between 1600-2200rpm. Then is all fine.
I looked at the values compared to the original and i saw that these values were significantly increased: at least 30% higher than original

And then i have this map 380NM of a friend that was also on DYNO with it and it pules out 380 NM and 180 Hp. Exact same car. I looked at the values and are just slightly increased compared to the original.

My dilemma: yesterday an Alfa Tuner looked at the 450 NM map and he said is a normal map with a small gain of power 170-180 hp and maybe 380NM. :o but the values are 30% higher!!! how come just a small gain?????

I am new in this but correct me if i'm wrong: if the values in the 450NM map are 2 or 3 times higher than in the 380NM (measured on DYNO) map how can it pull out the same torque and power?

Can someone take a look at the maps and give me an opinion? I'm curios to know if that map ruined my 2 clutches. I think so but the Alfa tuner put me into a dilemma saying that is a normal map.

Thank you

The alfatuner say you the real truth, with this 450nm map you'll never past real 380-385nm and 180hp in a good day,and the file is bad,bad rail pressure, bad torque limiter, bad turbo maps and others

and to explain the torque map....he can put also 500NM but there are several types of limiters in the ecu which wont allow to reach that high torque.

and by the way: if the value in the torque map is the highest one (like i suppose it to be in your paid mod) and higher than the limiters and other maps (iq by maf, dw,...) than this is a sign that the guy who did this mod has no idea what he did.

Alfa 159 1.9
no other mechanical - safe 170-189 HP
max 370-380Nm
Rail from idle up to 300-350, max rail 1700
boost ~0.3 more.

Strange thing that some 2 tuners said it is a good map. The 450 nm one.
I read a lot of posts in which the cars were juddering after a bad remap; high torque on lower rpm..bad iq and so one
If i put the original map I have no vibration. I think i will pay for another map. But how can you find a good tuner these days?
I already lost a lot of money on remap and on car parts. :(

I have a car like yours (alfa 159). I would appreciate it if you could send me the map of motor that you name in 380nm and 170Hp ecuedit.
It would be a great help.
And on the other hand to know if it is going well.
my email is radica793@gmail.com.
Thank you.
