Yes could be. Rail is good little bit higher in that zone, maybe some timing

I attached a study from an university about EGR effect on BSFC(brake specific fuel consumption - lower = best).

when the pressure build due to turbo inertia in the intake manifold after sudden release of the accelerator some ECU`s are using reverse EGR strategy.
(even diesel has no throttle plate, this serve to elimante the turbo surge)

What that means ? You suggest to keep EGR working ?

the diesel has no throttle plate , nevertheless some pressure is build in the manifold after sudden release of the accelerator.
in that instance, the pressure on intake is higher than the exhaust, so ECU (some ECU`s not all systems) open the EGR and the air escapes in the EGR tubbing (reverse egr), and release the pressure instantly in the intake , to preserve the turbine from surging.

anyway turbine surging is minimal on diesel VGT turbo`s.

..... no I don`t suggest to keep the EGR. I want oxygen in that cyl, and I hate contaminated oil :)

What do you think about swirl flaps ? Initially i was thinking that they work with EGR toghether to improve that little air on low rpm and also create more velocity. And this thing makes sense when you have EGR off and very very few oxygen.

But what happens after EGR is off and i have a lot of oxygen in low area? Are those swirl flaps which closes one port needed ?
