Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD HW0281010488 SW can be newer?

Postby Zamperl » Sat Mar 25, 2017 12:07 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to tune up a car with stage1. I found a tuning file for the same car, model, ECU and HW but not the SW (it's higher).

Original: Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD Bosch EDC15C6-7 HW0281010488 SW1037366560
Stage1: Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD Bosch EDC15 HW0281010488 SW 376535

Could somebody please help me to know if I can use this stage1 soft for writing into the ECU?

Thanks for your response. I'm still learning about ECU tuning, optimizing, etc. I'm a software engineer but have no skill of cars.
If I improve something I increase the version. like x.x.x.x
Could you please inform me why I shouldn't use the newer software on the same hardware ECU?

Because they dont gave the same checksums and the maps cant be in the same address, and this can block your ecu, sorry for my english

Thanks for your reply, your English is good enough my English isn't better :-)

How can I verify the checksum of the original ECU file related to the stage1 file?

Original read ECU file
FiatDucato2300Jtd_F1AE0481C_81kW110HP_Diesel_2002MY_BoschEDC15C6-7_Euro3.zip

Stage1 file
Fiat_Ducato_2.3_JTD_2004_Turbodiesel___80.9KWKW_Bosch_0281010488_Bosch__376535_65DC.zip

mate he told you that you cant do it.
if only one map is not at the same adress like in your ori file you will have trouble !
but i am sure that there are more maps which are not at same adress.
result is for example:
car doesnt start.
ecu blocks
car shut down while driving
and so on...

and you even dont know whats in the stage 1 file, maybe its a bad tune, and you want to use it ?

in your place i would look for somebody who can do a good remap and pay it, thats the most safe way for you and the cars engine :)

i hope i helped

regards

Someone else's firmware can be used, and it does not matter how the maps match. Algorithm for their placement in the firmware and stored. And the car is sure 90% of what will go. But the work of all functions is not guaranteed.

Thanks for response and both are right. I'm willing to pay for a professional tuning and contacted one already. I thought I can try a little bit by myself.
Checksum can be repaired by WinOls and I thought a higher software version would be an improvement from the basic.
How can I learn it with another car without destroying something or block the ECU?

The simplest MPPS can lift this ECU out of brick. But I'm sure 99% with the correct CS brick will not. And the correct operation of the engine and other systems at your discretion, all the way back.
